CALGARY, October 4, 2004 - Overlord Financial Inc. (TSXV: OFI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Kirk Purdy as President of Juno Canada Holdings Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Overlord Financial Inc. Mr. Purdy will be responsible for the final development and marketing of a proprietary suite of financial products to be made available to offshore investors by Juno Canada Holdings Ltd.
Mr. Purdy was the Founder, President, CEO and Director of Viking Energy Royalty Trust (VKR.UN) from 1996 through 2004. He presided over $350 MM of distributions to Viking's Unitholders over a time frame characterized by commodity price fluctuations and profound evolution in the Trust industry. In his tenure, growth in Viking's asset base was stewarded to more than $750 MM in enterprise value with the help of over 170 employees.
He has six prior years of varied financial management experience in Merchant Banking, Venture Capital, and Commercial Realty with two private Calgary-based enterprises as President and General Manager of Manvest Inc. and Manager of Knowlton Realty Ltd.
Mr. Purdy is currently a Director of Mavrix Fund Management Inc. (TSX:MVX) a Toronto-based fund management firm, and a number of private Canadian corporations. He holds a Masters degree in Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario, a diploma in Urban Land Economics from the University of British Columbia, and an undergraduate degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Queen's University.
