Barry Morrison

Barry Morrison

Chief Executive Officer
Barry Morrison established Morrison Williams (now Aston Hill Institutional Partners) in 1992 with Les Williams. His primary responsibilities include management of fixed income and real estate funds as well as marketing and business deveolpement. Prior to establishing Morrison Williams, Barry held senior positions with BGH Investment Management, Mortgage Insurance Co of Canada, United Funds and Dominion Life Assurance Co. Barry holds a BA in Economics and is a Fellow of Life Management Institute as well as a CFA.
K. Leslie Williams

K. Leslie Williams

Chairman
Les Williams established Morrison Williams (now Aston Hill Institutional Partners) in 1992 with Barry Morrison. His primary responsibilities include management of equities for all portfolios, setting asset mix, and marketing the firm's services. Prior to establishing Morrison Williams, Les held senior positions with BGH Investment Management, Inco and Bell Canada Pension Fund. Les holds a B Comm., Major in Accounting, and holds the Chartered Accountant designation.

Robert Gill

Robert Gill

Vice President & Portfolio Manager, Canadian and International Equities

Robert began his investment career in 1997 at BMO Nesbitt Burns. He subsequently moved to the United Kingdom where he joined Deutsche Bank’s Global Investment Banking Division.  Later, Robert spent seven years at Foyston, Gordon & Payne Investment Counsel analyzing Canadian, U.S. and Global companies, where he was Director of Research, and Associate Portfolio Manager for Global Equities and U.S. Equities. Robert joined Aston Hill Institutional Partners in August 2010 as Portfolio Manager.

Robert received his Honours Bachelor of Arts (B.A. Hons.) degree from Queen’s University in 1997, and is a graduate of the University of St. Andrews, in St. Andrews Scotland with a Master’s in Management, Economics and International Relations (MLitt).  He has also studied Value Investing at Columbia University with Professor Bruce Greenwald.

Robert currently sits on the Retirement Funds Investment Committee of the Canadian Actors’ Equity Association.  He is also an adjudicator for the John H. Watson Value Investing Course at the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management.

Clive Curtis

Clive Curtis

Senior Vice President, Private Client
Clive has been an investment counsellor serving high net worth individuals since 1995. Prior to joining Morrison Williams (Aston Hill Institutional Partners), he held positions with Wealth Management Group, Moss Lawson and HSBC Securities. Additional positions include Chief Investment Officer at Confederation Life (Atlanta) where Clive was responsible for managing $10 billion of pension and life assets, and where he chaired and shared in many industry oversight, training and government-relations endeavours. From 1958 to 1983, Clive worked at North American Life, in aspects of investment management, ultimately as Chief Investment Officer, and was involved in the formation of the real estate financing subsidiary The Edgecombe Group. Clive holds a BA (Hons) and is a CFA charter holder.
Sam Szeto

Sam Szeto

Senior Research Analyst
Sam began his investment career in 1992 as an Equity Analyst for Peregrine Asset Management in Hong Kong. Prior to joining Aston Hill Institutional Partners in November 2010, he held senior equity analyst and investment management roles at Beutel, Goodman & Co; Irish Life Investment Managers in Dublin and Foyston, Gordon & Payne covering global and Canadian equities. Sam holds a BA degree from University of Toronto, a MBA from Queen’s University and the Charted Financial Analyst designation.
Michael McNabb

Michael McNabb

Vice-President, Trading

Michael is responsible for the execution of all trading activities including equities, fixed income and short-term instruments. Prior to assuming these responsibilities in September 2006, Michael worked in the back office handling account reconciliations and trade settlement issues.

Michael has a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Business Management from Ryerson University and has completed the CSC, Trader Training Course and is a Level 2 CFA Candidate. He is also the past Vice-President of the Institutional Equities Trader Association of Toronto where he was responsible for organizing and hosting educational, social and volunteer events for association members.
Garnet Powell

Garnet Powell

Senior Research Analyst
Garnet began his investment career in 1996 at the Bank of Nova Scotia in Toronto. In 2001 he joined the Risk Management division of FleetBoston Financial (acquired by Bank of America) in Boston, Massachusetts. Garnet was later recruited by Canadian investment manager Foyston, Gordon & Payne, where he researched Canadian and Global Equities. Garnet holds a Specialized Honours Economics degree from York University, and an MBA from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto where he studied value investing. Garnet is a CFA charterholder, and an instructor of Credit & Market Risk Fundamentals at the University of Toronto’s School of Continuing Studies.
Jeffrey Brown

Jeffrey Brown

Vice President, Institutional Sales
Jeffrey Brown joined Aston Hill Institutional Partners in October 2012. Mr. Brown has over 17 years of experience in the asset management industry holding progressive roles at CI Investments in the capacity of Sales, Marketing and Institutional Equities. Most recently he held the role of Vice President, National Sales at Barometer Capital where he was instrumental in developing the advisor channel across Canada. Mr. Brown holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from York University, and an MBA from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. Mr. Brown works closely with the Portfolio Managers to ensure a timely and accurate dissemination of information to pension consultants and their clients.
